Joris Voorn to release Balance number 14

Amsterdam December 2009

Joris Voorn has been working on a new mix CD project over the last few months. It's a double CD for the Balance series from Australia.

The mixes were finished a few weeks ago, and I saw the rough tracklist was published before, so here I'll update you now with a more specific one.

As you can see there's lots of tracks on here, and it's pretty entertaining to see what comments people have been writing about that on some forums. Joris his intention while working on the mixes has not been 'more is more'. Some of the tracks listed here have been reduced to a 2 bar loop, with some he only used the break or the intro.
The process of making this mix has been more like painting with sound rather than mixing the end of one track with the beginning of another. Working this way has been very interesting for Joris and made the project into something very different than a conventional dj mix cd.

Hot on the heels of some serious chart topping action, blistering remix work and increasingly busy DJ commitments, Nils Nurnberg returns to the Dieb fold with his first solo outing on the label-and what a start it is! The remix package is quite special too (if we do say so ourselves!), as DiebAudio have drawn in some top Extrema Music talent to produce 2 different, fresh perspectives of an already excellent original! Supported by Carl cox, Sasha, Laurent Garnier and many more!

Mark August is back on Connaisseur Recordings with a new EP
By extrema music crew
Friday, December 12th, 2008
It’s been a while since the last release by Mark August on Connaisseur, but now he’s back with an extraordinary one.
Two tracks, both like a fairytale of a country far, far away.
A fable, with mystic and mysterious animals and creatures, might best describe what Mark had in mind while working on the tracks.

The Wasps From Tunisia And The Silver Piggy – The main track on this release is an uncommon piece of music.
It starts moody and with a stoic pumping beat, yet also a somehow laidback feeling.
It then unexpectedly and surprisingly builds up to a monster of a track, working manically towards its climax. Then however, over the length of the track, it completely transforms again, coming back to its beginning, as though nothing had ever happened. Scorpion’s Groove is a deep and dubby affaire.
